On Wednesday 13th May 2015 a combined team of Year 7 and Year 8 students competed for the first time ever in the ‘English Schools Track & Field Cup’. The competition is a national championship, but begins with local / regional competitions. Our competition was held at Ewell Athletics Track, and we competed against State, Grammar, and Independent Schools from as far away as Woking and Guildford.

The boys team came 8th overall, with stand out performances coming from Darrell Zunda and Phillipp Kourouma. Darrell came 1st in the 100m with a time of 12.7secs. Phillipp was 2nd in the 800m with a time of 2:21.2secs. Despite him being in Year 7 and competing against boys in Year 8, Pyiam Shukir acquitted himself extremely well. He competed in the 80m Hurdles, and the High Jump. He ran 15.3secs for the Hurdles, which placed him =5th, and he jumped 1.33m, which placed him =4th!

At the end of the meeting was the 4 x 100m Relays, and the quartet of Darrell Zunda, Gershon Basko-Humphreys, Phillipp Kourouma, and Myles McDonald, finished in 1st place! They clocked a time of 53.3secs.

In the girls competition, the girls came 5th overall. Stand out performances came from Trishauna Bailey in the 100m (5th place, with 14.8secs), and Aaliyah Smiley in the Discus (4th place, with 15.50m). In their 4 x 100m Relay, the quartet of Trishauna Bailey, Daisyanne Kennedy, Imogen Pascall, and Aimee Baker-Sanders, finished 2nd with a time of 1:00.6secs.
