After winning the KICK OFF @3 regional tournament last month, The Quest Academy’s year 9 football team were invited back to the Warren on Sunday to take part in the national tournament featuring winning teams from across the country.

The boys represented the Academy with distinction both on and off the pitch and managed to reach the Semi-finals out of 20 teams, narrowly losing 1-0 to the eventual winners. They were also refereed in the semi-final by current Premier League official Roger East. Before this loss we had been unbeaten in 16 matches in the competition if you include last month’s tournament win as well! What a talented bunch we have!

We also made the local news on Sunday night with the link to the news feature below. Daniel N’Guessan speaks really well when interviewed which was great to see. Hopefully the video will give you a good understanding of the great work this project is doing in the local community.

Farid Salifou was also once again picked put for his fantastic sportsmanship after the semi-final defeat, which follows on from the special award he received last month, after the Croydon Cup final defeat for exactly the same reason. Well done Farid.

Overall it has been a wonderful experience for all of us, myself included. The boys got to play in two competitive football tournaments but also got to be a part of a fantastic initiative which aims to bring communities together with their local police force.

PS.. the team photo was taken after the boy’s semi-final defeat hence the sad faces!
