Q6 students research attitudes to science
A group of Quest6 Year 12 students left the Quest Academy on Tuesday 13th January to complete some research into public attitudes of science. They travelled to central Croydon and asked questions to members of the public including:-
- Do scientists impact your life?
- Do you trust scientists?
- Do scientists all wear lab coats?
The following day the students analysed their results back in the lab. Here are some of their findings:
- Scientists are generally hard working and improve the world but fewer people trust them
- More people think biology has a bigger impact on their lives than other branches of science
- A high proportion of people linked the word “hair” to scientist but fewer linked the word “crazy”
- Only a third of people believe science is important in their jobs
We thank all the members of the public we asked for their help.
