On Friday 11th December the Quest6 A level physics class took a trip to the University of Sussex physics department for a special lab day. Once there, they had a tour of the facilities and met research scientists who are working on calculating the spin of a neutron to establish why the universe contains more matter than anti-matter.

They also completed five experiments related to their A level physics course including:

• The Monkey and the Hunter
• Pearl drops in air
• The Alien bomb box
• Measuring acceleration due to gravity
• Calculating Young’s Modulus

They all enjoyed the day and are looking forward to continuing their studies with a fresh viewpoint and renewed enthusiasm.
