Prefects

The appointment of prefects

Prefects are chosen during their final half-term as Year 10 students. They serve as Prefects throughout Year 11. Any student wishing to stand as a prefect must submit a Prefect Nomination Form and a supporting statement, addressed to the Principal. All nominations must be supported by at least ten students and five teachers. All nominees will be interviewed by a member of the Senior Team and provided with detailed feedback. The final appointment of prefects is left to the discretion of the Principal. A Head Boy and Head Girl are chosen from amongst the Prefects, following an intensive teambuilding exercise.

Prefects will hold office throughout Year 11, although this is a privilege which may be withdrawn in cases of misconduct.

The duties of prefects

1. To act as a role model to other students, demonstrating the utmost degree of diligence and embracing the Academy’s values
2. To assist with lunchtime duties.
3. To act an ambassador for the Academy in the local community.
4. To help with organisation and running of Academy-wide events
5. To chair the House Councils and lead the development of House ethos.
6. To attend half-termly Prefect meetings and training sessions

5. Invitation to special Prefect Events (e.g. Tea with the Principal, Team Building Adventure Day)

The duties of the Head Boy and Head Girl

2. To manage the Prefect lunchtime duty rota.
3. To act an ambassador for the Academy in the local community.
4. To lead the organisation and running of Academy-wide events
5. To chair the Academy Council and lead the development of Academy ethos.
6. To contribute to half-termly Prefect meetings and training sessions
