A year 10 student from the Quest Academy won the attention of The Transformation Trust and was offered a place on a piano masterclass. Tara Nelson, Year 10, played for and was tutored by Concert Pianist and Director of the Piano Studio in London, Richard Meyrick as part of the Trust’s PianoMan initiative.

Tara, who has been playing piano since the age of 3, won the attention of The Trust with her performance of “Adelita” by Francisco Tarrega. Tara said, “I can’t believe I was picked! It is my dream to play piano professionally one day, so to be tutored by a professional pianist is amazing for me.” Tara is working towards her Grade 5 in piano and is also an accomplished singer.

The PianoMan Masterclass offered just 17 students the opportunity to play and receive piano tuition from one of the world’s most accomplished pianists, with the added chance to win a free place at a four-day residential course. The residentials, which are hosted by Richard Meyrick and a team of young international concert pianists, are held near the beginning or end of the school holidays and are entirely free of charge to participants.

The Transformation Trust is a children’s charity working with around 800 schools, offering a range of extra-curricular opportunities throughout the school year.
