  • Make-up, fake tan, nail varnish or nail extensions of any kind may not be worn when in The Quest Uniform;
  • Spray deodorant, body sprays, or perfumes may not be brought to The Quest;
  • Hats must be plain black or plain blue and must not be worn in the building;

Hair (the regulations below are as appropriate for boys or girls)

  • Long hair must be tied back at all times;
  • Hairbands, hair ties and scrunchies must be plain navy blue or black and of narrow width. No decorative hairbands, hair ties or ribbons are allowed;
  • Haircuts must be no shorter than a number two;
  • Hair must be worn in a simple style. Unconventional or elaborate styles are not allowed, nor are bleached, coloured streaks, dyed hair, hair extensions, beading, shaved patterns and/or undercut or extensive braiding. An unnatural striking appearance is inappropriate. If in doubt over whether a planned style would be acceptable, parents/students should contact the Academy and seek advice before having the hair styled.
  • In some cases, because of hair types, functional braiding may be appropriate. Advice must be sought in advance of styling from your Achievement Coordinator, since the style is not allowed unless permission has been granted by the The Quest. As a general rule, straight line braiding is allowed. Patterned braiding (shapes etc cut into the hair) mohicans, tram lines or indents are not allowed.

Physical Education Kit Requirements

Students are expected to bring and wear PE kit to all practical Physical Education lessons, including enrichment lessons, training sessions and practical BTEC Sport lessons.

They may wear either:

  • The Quest Academy PE polo shirt or The Quest Academy blue reversible outdoor top
  • Plain navy blue shorts or plain navy blue tracksuit bottoms (One thin piping line only is permissible)
  • Plain white socks, either football socks or sports socks
  • Trainers must be sturdy and suitable for sport with non-marking soles (moulded boots or blades are acceptable for the astro turf pitches, but not indoors)

PLEASE NAME AND TUTOR GROUP ALL ITEMS OF KIT SO THAT IF LOST AND FOUND THEY CAN BE RETURNED

Should any student fail to attend lessons in the correct kit they will be issued with either of the two following sanctions:

  • Incorrect/wrong kit/no kit at all (without a note) class teacher’s detention and will be expected to borrow kit
  • No kit at all, refusal to wear a borrowed kit and cooperate will result in being removed to the supervision room

Jewellery may not be worn in lessons.  Students will not be allowed to partake in lessons if they are discovered to be wearing school shoes, their outdoor coat or any part of their school uniform under their PE Kit. They will be asked to remove it, if this is not possible they will be issued with a class teacher’s detention.

Illness and Injury – Being excused from lessons

Should any student be unable to participate in a practical lesson through illness or injury they will need to bring in a note to excuse them which has been signed and dated by a parent/guardian. Failure to provide a valid note of excuse will result in the issuing of a class teacher’s detention.

Any student excused from full participation in PE lessons due to injury or illness is still required to attend the lesson in full kit. Failure to do so will result in a class teacher’s detention on the first occasion.  This will increase if it is a repeated offence

We do require students not participating in lessons to still wear their PE kit as in many cases they are able to participate as a coach or helper. Even if their injury or illness prevents a simple role in the lesson they are often required to be outside observing the lesson, which can result in becoming cold and wet. To change out of cold wet clothes back into a dry warm uniform to spend the rest of the day will prevent further discomfort and potential illness.  We would recommend that students wear the appropriate kit for the weather conditions.

Valuables & Belongings

Every student in the Academy is provided with a locker. We would very strongly recommend that students leave all valuable in their lockers.  Alternatively any valuables may be handed to a member of PE staff and kept in the office for the duration of the lesson. The Quest Academy cannot accept any liability for the loss of items from its changing rooms. Due to both security and health and safety all belongings must be left in the changing rooms and not brought into the teaching area, unless authorised by the member of staff leading the lesson.

Students may collect uniform at first break on Tuesdays and Thursdays only.
